Since Debra Ruffell and Nigel Brown established Ruffell & Brown Interiors in 1987, it has now grown to be one of the largest independently owned decorating stores in Canada. Ruffell & Brown offers a broad range of products and a free in-home decorating service.
In 2003, Ruffell & Brown came to us looking for a new web site, one that would not only be sizeable enough to display their full product catalogue but also one would do so in a manner attractive enough to befit design professionals. We needed to design a site that would let them sell their products and themselves.
We created the design based on the layout for Ruffell & Brown's partner company, NorthernBlinds.com (which we also constructed. Three cheers for us!). We replicated Northern Blinds' aesthetic ideas and adapted the colours and design, which shows the Ruffell & Brown site to be unmistakably linked with Northern Blinds while still retaining its own unique personality.
Using effective image compression and an attractive and simple menu system, we were able to post the entire product catalogue on the site while still ensuring quick download time. We also set up an exceptionally convenient online booking system for in-home consultations.
